Meet Amelia, owner and farrier

A Journey in Whole Horse Hoof Care

Amelia DiStefano, Motivity Equine’s driving force and owner of DiStefano Whole Horse Hoof Care, passionately followed her journey into farriery beginning in 2018, fueled by her lifelong love of horses. The following year, Amelia met an exceptionally knowledgeable farrier who mentored her, sharing wisdom and providing experience with rehabbing horses with complex hoof disorders.

Motivated by her desire to improve the quality of horses’ lives, Amelia became immersed in the science of whole horse hoof care. She grew her passion, knowledge, and philosophy by studying under renowned professionals Ida Hammer, Pete Ramey and others, leading to an apprenticeship, 2020 graduation, and significant acquisition of continuing education. Amelia has traveled across the nation in pursuit of the best educational opportunities, learning from renowned equine professionals, including but not limited to:

  • Ida Hammer and DVM Tracy Fant Colvin at SW Texas Veterinary Medical Center in Uvalde, TX.

  • DVM Debra Taylor at Two Creeks Podiatry in Auburn, Alabama, honing experience in FORMAHOOF.

  • Paige Poss, Stuart Muir, Yogi Sharp, and Derek Poupard at The Humble Hoof clinic in Boston, MA.

  • David Landreville

  • Deb Davies at her Equine Self Expressions Clinic in Middletown, Indiana.

Each educational opportunity enhanced Amelia’s knowledge and expertise in equine rehabilitation and care, enabling her to deploy a diverse range of skills and methodologies when addressing intricate hoof recovery cases. In addition, Amelia has built an excellent network of equine healthcare providers to allow owners the best access to guidance and services.

Alongside her roles as a wife and mother to three boys, Amelia's dedication to equine well-being shines through in her unwavering devotion to continuous learning, her daily application of holistic hoof care practices as a busy farrier, and her attentive care of all of the horses at Motivity Equine.
